Abstract: | Solid polymer electrolytes are a promising alternative to widely used liquid carbonate electrolytes to deliver next-generation lithium-ion batteries with improved safety. However, the limited ionic conductivity and high interfacial resistance with electrodes limit their widespread use. This review aims to give an overview of the recent research on performance aspects and strategies of solid polymer electrolytes, including ionic conductivity, lithium transference number, design flexibility, scale-up, and integration of ionic liquids with a focus on safety. |
