EPR studies of Cu2+ in anhydrous sodium oxalate

Abstract:Electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of Cu2+ doped in single crystal of anhydrous sodium oxalate grown by slow evaporation from saturated aqueous solutions have been investigated. EPR measurements gave the following values for the spin Hamiltonian parameters: gxx = gyy = 2.0741, gzz = 2.3253, Axx = Ayy = ?14.9G and Azz = ?147.7 G. The principal axes of the hyperfine coupling and g tensors are spatially coincident. Using the optical absorption energy values given for a similar complex we have estimated the values of the bonding parameters and orbital-reduction factors for the system under investigation.
