| Abstract: | Summary Monitoring of the concentration levels of certain environmental organic pollutants which pose potential health hazards is examined. The use of reference materials in the quantitative measurement of common pollutants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polycyclic heteroaromatic compounds, nitro-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) is reviewed within the context of achieving optimum precision sand accuracy of the measurements.
