Preparation and Photocatalytic Performance of WO3/(Phen)2.5HPW Composite Hollow Microspheres |

Abstract: | Heteropoly compound (C12H8N2)2.5?H3PW12O40 ((Phen)2.5HPW) was synthesized via a solution reaction between phosphotungstic acid (HPW) and Phenanthroline (Phen), and WO3/(Phen)2.5HPW composite hollow microspheres were prepared with WO3 hollow microspheres dipping in Phenanthroline and phosphotungstic acid solution subsequently. Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES), elemental analysis (EA) , thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS) were used for characterization. Photocatalytic performance of the heteropoly compound (Phen)2.5HPW, WO3 hollow microspheres and WO3/(Phen)2.5HPW composite hollow microspheres were tested by photocatalytic decomposition of methyl orange aqueous solution upon irradiation of high pressure mercury lamp, respectively. The results showed that the activity of WO3/(Phen)2.5HPW composite hollow microspheres was higher than that of (Phen)2.5HPW and WO3 hollow microspheres respectively, and deactivation of WO3/(Phen)2.5HPW composite hollow microspheres was negligible when the catalyst was separated for recycling applications. |
