Abstract: | ![]() A novel method for the synthesis of thiophene 1,1-dioxides by oxidation of substituted thiophenes with trifluoroperoxyacetic acid was developed. The effect of the solvent nature on the course of the reaction was studied and optimum conditions for the oxidation of thiophenes containing various functional groups were found.
