Abstract: | The fundamental solutions are obtained for a unit concentrated electric potential discontinuity and unit concentrated displacement discontinuity in a three-dimensional piezoelectric medium. Displacements and stresses are derived by application of the boundary integral equation method. These expressions are used to obtain the stress intensity factors for a circular crack in Part II of the study. |
