| Abstract: | The giant quadrupole resonance of the fused system obtained in a 40Ca + 40Ca reaction is investigated in the framework of the TDHF approximation. A large splitting of the resonance due to the deformation of the composite system is observed. These results are confirmed by a direct fluid-dynamical calculation of the resonance. An estimation of the energy stored in the resonance is also presented. |
