Abstract: | Enantiomerically enriched pyrimidyl alkanol with either S or R configuration was obtained stochastically from the reaction between pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde and diisopropylzinc without adding chiral substances in conjunction with subsequent asymmetric autocatalysis, leading to amplification of the enantiomeric excess. |
