| Abstract: | In DMSO and DMF at elevated temperatures, KF, KNO2, NaNO2, K2CO3, and Na2CO3 react with 4-nitrophthalonitrile to form 4,4′-oxybis-(phthalonitrile) and, mostly, 4-hydroxyphthalonitrile. Formation ratios depend on reaction conditions. Intermediates are discussed. |
