The authors propose a function describing a curve taken on a multiple-stage instrument. This function depends on three parameters; the time, the half-life, and the initial dead-time. The latter has been measured accurately on an electronic unit developed for this purpose. The half-lives of certain elements (Hf, Ag, Se, Na, V, Sc, Al) have been determined and the differences in the half-lives of an element and its salt have been pointed out.
