The valence band photoemission spectroscopy of metallic Ce systems is inspected with regard to the different models employed for the interpretation of the data. It is concluded, that contrary to general believe, in most systems higher lyingf-excitations within the 4f manifold are observed, and the observation of the Kondo resonance is difficult. |
