| Abstract: | Based on experimental results on the kinetic zip length of polyene formation and on the polyene distribution in degraded PVC it is deduced, using quantitative model conceptions, that both the configuration and the conformation of the PVC macromolecule may influence the initiation, propagation and termination of thermal dehydrochlorination. In this way it is possible to explain the low ‘basic’ stability of PVC as being determined by the tacticity. |
