X-ray investigation of NPOOB crystals

Results of a series of experimental investigations by means of X-rays of NPOOB crystals are reported. These results refer to the anisotropy of thermal expansion, to the smectic-nematic phase transition and to critical scattering accompanying that phase transition. It is suggested that the smectic-nematic phase transition is continuous.
