Bandwidth of free electron metals as measured by photoelectron spectroscopy

Recent accurate measurements of the bandwidth of nearly free electron metals Na, Mg and Al by photoelectron spectroscopy show reductions from calculated bandwidth. It is suggested that at least part of this discrepancy can be accounted for by taking the Mahan-Nozières-DeDominicis effect into account.
