Abstract:The heat dissipation problem faced by the IGBT module of the train traction converter has attracted much attention in recent years.Based on the heat transfer enhancement theory of the“M”curve peak point of the flow boiling heat transfer in the micro-channel,the influences of the channel lengths and structural forms on the surface temperature of the cold plate were experimentally researched in this paper.It was found that short channel could effectively control the vapor quality at a good level,which made the mainstream flow patterns in the micro-channel plate to be slug flow or annular flow with thin film,thus leading a high heat transfer coefficient.The segmented structure of the short channel combination in a certain area of the cold plate had a significant effect on enhancing heat transfer.On this basis,a function of channel length to diameter ratio on the midpoint vapor quality was established to guide the structure optimization of the micro-channel cold plates design that adapted to different sizes of IGBT modules.
