Abstract: | A blend consisting of equal proportions of poly (vinylidene fluoride) and poly (methyl methacrylate) has been prepared and drawn to draw ratios up to 7. The mechanical properties and the structure and morphology of the samples have been measured, the latter using differential scanning calorimetry, optical microscopy, and various x-ray techniques. A structural model is proposed for the drawn materials which accounts for the mechanical properties and for the response of the crystalline regions of the material to an applied stress. |
