Equal-path dynamics of pulsed ion streams

A class of alternating electromagnetic fields, in which the ion trajectories from a short-duration packet do not depend on the initial energy (velocity) of ions, is described. It is suggested that particle dynamics in such fields be called equal-path dynamics. As an example, the deflecting properties of a parallel-plate capacitor, with an equal-path dependence of the voltage on time, are studied. Zh. Tekh. Fiz. 67, 99–102 (May 1997)
