| Abstract: | Treatment of 2,3,5-trichloro-5-(E)-2,3-diiodoprop-1-en-1-yl]-4,4-dimethoxycyclopent-2-en-1-one with SmI2 in THF gives 5,5′-(1E,5E)-2,5-diiodohexa-1,5-diene-1,6-diyl]bis(2,3-dichloro-4,4-dimethoxycyclopent-2-en-1-one) and its meso form at a ratio of 3:1. |
