Abstract: | The dependence between neutron skin thickness and neutron abrasioncross section ($sigma_{rm nabr}$) for neutron-rich nuclei isinvestigated within the framework of the statistical abrasionablation model. Assuming that the density distributions for protonand neutron are of Fermi-type, and adjusting the diffusenessparameter of neutron density distribution in the droplet model, wefind out the good linear correlation between the neutron skinthickness and the abrasion cross section $sigma_{rm nabr}$ forneutron-rich nuclei. The uncertainty of neutron skin thicknessdetermined from $sigma_{rm nabr}$ is very small. It is suggestedthat $sigma_{rm nabr}$ can be used as a new experimental observableto extract the neutron skin thickness for neutron-rich nucleus. Thescaling behaviours between neutron skin thickness and $sigma_{rmnabr}$, separately, for isotopes of $^{26-35}$Na, $^{44-56}$Ar,$^{48-60}$Ca, $^{67-78}$Ni are also investigated. |
