Injection of ideal fluid from a slot into a free stream

A cold gas is injected from a slot into a free stream of hot gas. In a simple model this leads to a two-fluid free boundary problem with the jump relation |u^-|²–|u⁺|² = ( constant) on the free boundary {u=0}, where u is the stream function. We prove that for any (–1, ) there exists a unique solution (Q, u) where Q is the flux of the injected fluid. Various properties of the solution u and of the free boundary are established.
