A critical examination of the existing data on X-ray satellite spectra has led to a fuller information regarding the occurrence of pairs of satellite lines in theK, L andM regions, showing more or less constant value ofΔ√ν/R, similar to the screening doublets in the X-ray energy levels of singly ionised atoms.
