Zwei neue Iodopalladate mit gleicher Summenformel: Rb2PdI4 · I2 – ein neuer Strukturtyp mit eingelagerten I2‐Molekülen – und Rb2PdI6

Two New Iodopalladates with Identical Chemical Formula: Rb₂PdI₄ · I₂ – a New Structure Type with Insertion of I₂ Molecules – and Rb₂PdI₆ Rb₂PdI₄ · I₂ is the first rubidium iodopalladate(II) which could be prepared. Despite showing the same formula type, the compound is not isotypic to Cs₂PdI₄ · I₂. The crystal structure of Rb₂PdI₄ · I₂ was explored by X‐ray crystal structure analysis. Rb₂PdI₄ · I₂ shows orthorhombic symmetry, space group Pnma (No. 62) with lattice parameters a = 7.982(1) Å, b = 12.267(1) Å, c = 14.599(1) Å, Z = 4. Palladium is coordinated by four iodine atoms building the typical square‐planar coordination. Further iodine is inserted as I₂ molecules. Another compound with the same empirical formula but octahedrally coordinated Pd^IV – Rb₂PdI₆ – could be obtained microcrystallinic in connection with Rb₂PdI₄ · I₂.
