TEMPO-catalyzed oxidation of benzylic alcohols to aldehydes with the H2O2/HBr/ionic liquid [bmim]PF6 system

Abstract:A selective oxidation of benzylic alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes in room temperature ionic liquid was achieved by using TEMPO/HBr/H2O2 system, and both ether-insoluble acetamido-TEMPO and ionic liquid [bmim]PF6 can be successfully recovered and reused for the oxidation of the same (different) substrate.
