Impact of Universities' Law Education on the City Movement in Medieval Western Europe

As un important faculty of university in medieval western Europe,the origin and prosperity of law education catered to the special historical demand and resulted in great social impact.This article first explains why the City Movement was the base of law education,then introduces the main contents of law education-civil law and canon law,evaluates those important law education centers such as Bologna University,finally it comes to the conclusion: cultivating the bourgeois' law consciousness,pushing the City Movement forward,university's law education in medieval western Europe greatly contributed to the development of western law system and overall civilization.
