| Abstract: | It is confirmed that the presence of iron as impurity in titanous chloride and sulphate solutions invalidates the use of potassium dichromate as a standard substance. Methods of overcoming this interference and of preparing iron-free titanous salt solutions are discussed and reasons are given for preferring titanous chloride to titanous sulphate for most purposes. |
