| Abstract: | It was found that the separation factor β of the rare earths in the system: HEHφP-HCl aq. shows some regularities depending on the atomic number of the lanthanon. The changes in β, from La to Gd and from Gd to Lu, are similar. It was assumed that entropy is the main factor that determines the strength of the metal-ligand bond and that the regularities observed are caused by the entropy changes. |
