Abstract: | The technique of nuclear quantum beats (perturbed angular correlations) has been applied to the investigation of the hyperfine splitting of the2S1/2 ground state in Li-like fluorine ions. Using the 197 keV state in19F as a probe, a value of 73.1 (1.5) GHz was found for the hf splitting. This result is compared with theoretical predictions. |
