Abstract:The line-reversal method for determination of vibrational temperatures of molecules in their ground states has been applied to nonequilibrium, low-pressure plasmas. The feasibility of employing low-resolution apparatus is demonstrated. The method was used for measurements on a series of vibrational-rotational transitions with allomance for anharmonicities. The apparatus is described; measurements were carried out in disharges representative of CO2-lasers. The accuracy of measurement is discussed.
