| Abstract: | A highly enantioselective Br?nsted acid catalyzed direct synthesis of cyclic aminals from aldehydes has been developed. The methodology has been applied to the first asymmetric synthesis of several antihypertensive aminal drugs including (R)-Thiabutazide. |
