| Abstract: | New 4-substituted benzyl esters of 16-mercaptohexadecanoic acid were prepared by developing a practicable synthetic procedure and using readily available staring materials. The compounds synthesized have been characterized by NMR, MS, IR spectra and elemental analysis.
