Spectroscopic investigation of the mechanism of C2 formation in various types of discharges in a carbon dioxide atmosphere

Abstract:
Discharges in hollow carbon and molybdenum cathodes have been studied in atmospheres of O2, CO2, and also of He and Ar mixed with air. The experimental data and results of other studies provide the basis for a discussion of the most probable mechanism of C2 radical formation.
