Mechanistic implications from the substitution reactions with methyl fluoride of photochemically produced hot tritium atoms

Abstract:
The reactions with CH3F of photochemically produced tritium atoms from TBr have been studied at various wavelengths. The energy threshold is lower and the relative yield higher for F replacement than for H replacement in CH3F. These near-threshold substitution reactions are consistent with an inversion mechanism.
