| Abstract: | In this paper the emission and excitation spectra of Ce3+,Tb3+ ions and Ce3+-Tb3+ ion pair in Sr4Si3O8Cl4 were studied.Both the Ce3+ and the Tb3+ ions show strong luminescence in this host.The luminescence color of the Cc3+ is violet and that of Tb3+ is yellowish-green.When Sr4Si3O8Cl4 was activated by Ce3+-Tb3+ pair the luminescence of Tb3+ was enhanced remarkably by Ce3+.The mechanism of sensitization of Tb3+ by Ce3+ is discussed. |
