| Abstract: | Podophyllotoxin 1 reacts with DDQ in acetic acid to give podophyllotoxone 2 at 75C and the naphthol 3 at 90C, and in TFA to give the naphthalene 4. 4-O-Benzyl-epipodophyllo- toxin 5 reacts with DDQ in acetic acid at 70C to give the acetate 8. The structural elucidation of these products is described. |
