| Abstract: | Let G be a finite group having a faithful irreducible character χ for which χ(1) is prime to ¦G¦/χ(1). Let n=[(χ):]χ(1), and assume that the factors are not both even. Then G can be embedded in GLn() in such a way that its normalizer therein splits over its centralizer. |
