Abstract:Presented here is a combination of holographic interferometry with a smoothing numerical method taking into consideration the balance of momentum. The method permits the experimental determination of strains, stresses as well as related quantities in fracture mechanics. An edge cracked beam subjected to three-point bending and a double torsion specimen have been selected as the specimens for illustrating the hybrid method.
