| Abstract: | In a search for 1,4-additions of dihalocarbenes, compounds 1, 2, and 4 were reacted with CX2. Diaryl isobenzofurans (4) yielded substituted 1-aryl-1-(o-benzoyl-phenyl)-2,2-dihaloethenes (5) in very fast additions of dichloro-, dibromo-, and diiodocarbenes. Possible intermediates are discussed. |
