Formation of doubly charged ions in field ionization mass spectra of para substituted acetophenones

The doubly charged [M]²⁺, [M+1]²⁺ and [M-O]²⁺ ions are observed in the field ionization mass spectra of para substituted acetophenones. The effect of the type of the substituent on the formation of the doubly charged ions is described.
