Abstract: | Abstract An ion beam mixing experiment of the Fe-Ti system has been performed at 320 K. The Fe x Ti100-x phases formed as a function of composition have been studied by transmission electron microscopy within the range 0≤x≤45. The formation of β-Ti(Fe) and FeTi phases is shown for x≥20, β-Ti(Fe), crystalline FeTi and glass for 20<x<35. In every case the amount of the equilibrium FeTi compound is small. For x≥35 a single amorphous state is obtained. |
