Abstract: | Some features of the reactivity of the amino acids coordinated to metal ions are reviewed. Special emphasis is given to the formation and the hydrolysis of esters and peptides, to some reactions of complexes of amino acids Schiff bases, to aldol condensation and to isotopic exchange and racemization at the α-carbon atom. The change of reactivity which follows the coordination to metal atoms and some possible references to inorganic biochemistry are also outlined. |
