Abstract: | ![]() Recent observation of an order-disorder transition in H on Ni(111) is interpreted as indicating a transition to a (2 × 2) honeycomb state. Comparison with theoretical calculations leads us to infer that third neighbor attractions in addition to first and second-neighbor repulsions are present. The magnitude of the latter repulsion is estimated. |
