| Abstract: | The different features of the Raman scattering in resonance with electronic absorption band in cis and trans-polyacetylene are discussed. The strong multiphonon scattering observed in cis-polyacetylene is accounted for in terms of a localized gap state, which dominates the scattering process near the absorption edge. |
