Abstract: | A method is presented which is specific for the determination of trace amounts of titanium. Titanium is precipitated with cupferron using zirconium as a collector. Further separation from interfering elements is made by anion exchange and precipitation with sodium hydroxide using iron as a collector. The determination is completed colorimetrically after extraction of the titanium-thiocyanate complex with a solution of tri-n-octylphosphine oxide in cyclohexane. The method is accurate to within ±5% (relative) or ±0.75 μg of titanium, whichever is greater. |
