Abstract:
We present variational solutions for a number of simple three-body states with central local potentials. Those considered include the ground and excited states of three bosons, for potentials with and without hard cores; the trineutron; and the T =32 role=presentation style=font-size: 90%; display: inline-block; position: relative;> state in the triton with central forces. In each case the calculations are carried far enough to demonstrate explicitly convergence of the upper bound to an accuracy of approximately four significant figures. In addition we provide lower bounds which lie extremely close to these upper bounds.
