Flow around stepped bodies with strong compression in a shock layer

This article discusses plane and axisymmetric flows of a nonviscous ideal gas around bodies of stepped form, forming with a Mach number M= and an adiabatic indexN1. The greatest amount of attention is paid to the case where there is no Newtonian free layer, but the shock layer is detached at great distances from the nose of the body.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR.
