Synthesis of benzo[g]quinoline derivatives

The synthesis of 4-aminobenzog]quinoline has been effected by the following three methods: 1) replacement of the halogen in 4-chlorobenzog]quinoline by an amino group; 2) dehydrogenation of the oxime of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-oxobenzog]quinoline; 3) direct condensation of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-oxobenzog]quinoline with ammonia.
