Backbending and E2 reduction in Ba |

| Abstract: | The E2 transition strengths of yrast states in 126Ba are measured. A reduction of a factor of three is observed for the 10+→8+ and 8+→6+ transitions. This seems to indicate that the E2 reductions and the backbending pattern in this nucleus are uncorrelated. |
