Abstract:
Summary Ultrasonic absorption and velocity have been measured in sodium taurodeoxycholate solutions, at concentrations ranging between 0.1 and 0.4 mol kg−1 and at temperatures of 25, 35 and 45°C. In addition, viscosity measurements have been performed. The ultrasonic results show that at least two kinetic processes occur in such systems. At high frequency the kinetic processes may be related to monomer-micelle exchange, while at lower frequency they may be related to the change of size and shape of the solute aggregates. The trend of the activation energy of the viscous flow confirms the increase of the aggregation number of the micelles at higher molality.
