A special class of solutions of the wave equations is determined by a mixed-type PDE. Two kinds of well-posed boundary-value problems are solved. The equation has the following interesting property: it is a mixed equation of the first class and behaves as a mixed equation of the second class in large regions.Dedicated to Professor L. K. Hua. |
