Abstract:The rcaction systems of carbon tetrahalide with potassium hydroxide (sodiumethoxide) was studied by ESR. It was found by the spin trapping that the trihalomethylradical was formed in the reaction systems. A single electron transfer (SET) mechanism wassuggested in this paper.
